We’d like to thank Aimee Caruso and the Valley News for coming to the store and running this article so more people in the Upper Valley will know that we are back in business and here to stay!

Total interior renovation

Posted by: johnfarrow2011 | January 21, 2012

January Update

The West Hartford Village Store is standing strong. While the outside doesn’t look much different than it did before Irene struck, the inside has been completely gutted to the studs. The workers have spent countless hours to rehab the 100 plus year old store and it will be even better than it was before. Take a look at some pictures below to see the progress made since the aftermath of Hurricane Irene flooded the town of West Hartford and devastated many families and businesses along route 14. The pictures, taken Jan. 9, tell just some of the story. We’d love to tell you the whole story when we reopen and you come in for a visit. Please check the blog often as we will keep you posted on our progress and our “Grand Re-Opening” date. Thank you for your support.

We had to do a total inside renovation.

Store Survives

Welcome to the West Hartford Village Store website. We are happy you have visited our site today. Our store strives to provide the community with quality products and exceptional service. We appreciate our customers support.

As most people are aware, our community was devastated by Hurricane Irene on August 28, 2011. We are in the process of rebuilding our store so we can continue to serve our loyal patrons, Appalachian Trail hikers and other visitors. We have been at the store every day working hard to get it back into the condition, if not better, than it was before the storm. There has been a tremendous outpouring of support and response from our local community. We cannot thank you enough and are so grateful for volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves to work beside us, donated food or lent their technical expertise. If you are interested in helping us rebuild in any way, please stop by or email us at With the help and support of our community, we know we can achieve our goal of reopening.

Store Update

Please take a look at some pictures of the West Hartford Village Store from the week of 8/28/11.

The view of the front of the store

The front of our store was a sight to see. The wooden pole to the left is actually the telephone pole from across the street.

Approaching the West Hartford Village Store from Route 14 north, the sand pit on the right used to be the parking lot.

Emergency and city municipal vehicles arrive to assist. The community response has been tremendous.
